We are a full service dock repair and maintenance company based on Lake Travis, just west of Austin, TX.
Dock Works is the end result of 30 plus years of on and offshore fabrication, welding and maintenance on an industrial scale. We offer the same attention to detail and performance as is required by the largest power plants and refineries in the world. Although most docks would most likely fit on the deck of the last rig we worked on, it is no less important to make sure it is safe to board and is working properly.
We provide dock and marina maintenance, repairs, additions, re-locations, and capital work agreements. Our lake-accessible fabrication shop provides custom welding and construction to meet any challenge, and our team of certified divers and welders allow us access to your floating structure from above and below.
With a monthly maintenance contract, you can have the peace-of-mind your dock will be adjusted with the ever-changing lake level, especially in a flood.
The LCRA has mandated all residential docks on the Highland Lakes to have encased flotation by February 18, 2014. Dock Works recommends upgrading your exposed foam flotation before the demand and cost increases. Click here for a link to LCRA’s boat dock standards.

To Lee and Teri Fugitt, Dock Works LLC, 204 Lakeshore Dr. West, Spicewood, TX 78669:
Lee and Teri — We are writing to express our tremendous appreciation and gratification for the outstanding work your company performed for us in order to provide access to Lake Travis from our lot in The Reserve at Lake Travis. Our lake house and lot are at the highest point of the development, which provides a tremendous view but also tremendous obstacles in accessing the lake. We had several contractors say that it couldn’t be done; that the hillside was too steep and unstable. At the top of the lot on the lakeside there is a rock cliff that drops about 12-15 feet vertically followed by about a 40-degree slope down to the lake. The total drop from the top of the cliff down to the full lake level of 681 feet is about 125 vertical feet.
We wanted to preserve the natural beauty of the hillside as much as possible, with minimal clearing, avoiding trees and following the terrain down with stairs. Dock Works designed and built a pathway with stone and mostly metal stairs to reach the lake. The work was done in several phases and received the approval and commendation of Travis County in preserving the land and reducing the environmental impact of the project. You can see the result in the attached pictures.
We are extremely pleased with the entire project and especially the main component of the metal stairs, which are exceptionally strong and of construction quality comparable to stairs that are installed in offshore platforms. And Bob should know since he is in that business. They are 1/4-inch galvanized steel throughout and painted above the lake flood level to blend in with the surroundings. They are virtually invisible above the limestone rim of the lakebed. The stairs were built down to the 620-foot level and they will be able to handle almost any lake level short of Lake Travis retreating to the original Colorado riverbed. The installation of the stairs and other fixtures below the water is a specialty of Dock Works, we can see. Capture rails were provided at the lower level of the stairs for a future gangway and dock, should we decide to have one. Everything is designed with the future in mind and the greatest flexibility. Also, you can see in the pictures a very nice lake viewing platform that Lee suggested be installed above the 722-foot buildable level–a great spot for future use.
Again, thank you for allowing us to have beautiful and practical access to the lake, with the bonus of great exercise going up and down these stairs. Feel free to use this letter and the pictures in any promotional material you would like, and to have your other customers contact us for a glowing recommendation of your work.
All the best,
Bob and Cheryl Mahood
